J. Patrick Tang is Senior Of Counsel to the firm and serves as the City Attorney for the City of Hercules. Patrick was a Deputy City Attorney for the City of Oakland for nineteen years, where he acquired extensive experience in a wide range of municipal law issues, including cable and waste franchising, telecommunications licensing and regulation, utilities undergrounding, nuisance abatement, code enforcement, public records and open meeting laws, planning and land use, environmental law, and elections law.

He served as General Counsel to Oakland’s Public Works Agency and counsel to the City’s Public Ethics Commission.  He prosecuted drug nuisance abatement cases, and developed strict code requirements adopted across the state that closed down poorly regulated gun dealers.  He has also served as an administrative hearing officer for the City of San Rafael.

Patrick graduated from the U.C. Hastings School of Law in 1990, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1982.
