After more than 45 years of practice, Andrea Saltzman is now mostly retired but she remains as Of Counsel to the firm, acting as a consultant on appeals, appellate writs, and post-trial motions in civil cases throughout California. She also acts as a consultant to attorneys in trial courts.
Andrea has briefed and argued scores of appeals and writs, encompassing a wide variety of matters. She also has extensive trial experience, again encompassing a wide variety of matters and including jury trials, law and motion practice, and administrative and traditional writs. Although her legal work has been wide-ranging, she has a particular expertise in awards of attorney’s fees and in the substantive areas of land use and general municipal law.
Prior to becoming Of Counsel with the firm, Andrea was Of Counsel with the Meyers Nave law firm where she handled appeals, writs, litigation and advisory work, primarily for local public agencies. She was certified by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization as an appellate specialist in the first group of appellate specialists in 1996 and remained certified through 2016. Since 2005, she has been annually selected as a Northern California “Super Lawyer” in appellate law by Law & Politics, which seeks to list the top 5 percent of lawyers in many areas across the country through a process of independent evaluation and peer review.
Andrea graduated from Berkeley Law (Boalt Hall) in 1972, Order of the Coif, and was a research attorney at the California Supreme Court after her graduation.
